AWARD HISTORY
In 2009 Skutt Catholic High School initiated the Outstanding Alumni Award for the purpose of highlighting special alumni who have lived the Skutt Catholic mission and served as an inspiration to others. The award is presented at the annual Angel Flight dinner/auction held each September at the school. A framed poster hangs in the Skutt Catholic Commons honoring each award winner. - Congratulations to Skutt Catholic seniors Arena Govier and Matthew Keller who have been named National Merit Finalists! They advanced to this stage from their "semifinalist" standing which was announced this past fall.
- Congratulations go out to the following eight Skutt Catholic Students who were named National Merit Scholars for the 2010-2011 school year.
- Arena Govier, Matthew Keller, and Garrett Wirka were named National Merit Semifinalists as a result of scoring in the top 1% of the more than 1.5 million students that took the PSAT test last year.
- Annie Bolamperti, Lauren Kolkman, Kristin Sauma, Frankie Smith, and Lance Warburton were named National Merit Commended students for scoring in the top 4% of the 1.5 million student.
- Congratulations to Matthew Keller and Lauren Kolkman for their selection to the Omaha World Herald, All Metro Academic Team – Second Team. They were among the top 24 recognized graduating seniors in the Omaha metro by the World Herald.
- Congratulations to the following Skutt Catholic graduates who earned honorable mention recognition for the achievement that led to their nomination to the World Herald 2011 All State Academic team. These nominees had to have at least a 32 on the ACT or at least 2080 on the SAT.

- Congratulations to Skutt Catholic High School's Mock Trial Team (Green) for capturing the State Championship title by defeating a skilled North Platte Team. Skutt Catholic's Mock Trial Team has won three state championships and a state runner-up trophy in the past five years. Skutt Catholic is also the only Catholic school to win this state championship in the 28 year history of the competition.

- Junior Kaitlyn Peterson won a silver medal in the National Scholastic Art Awards Competition held in New York city. Her batik entitled "Chicago" won a gold key at the Regional Competition of the Scholastic Art Awards here in Omaha in February and then was sent to New York for the national competition. Kaitlyn will be honored with other reciepients at Carnegie Hall on May 31st.
Kaitlyn is presently taking Art III and is a very gifted young artist. Congratulations Kaitlyn.

- At the State Scholastic Art Competition Skutt Catholic High School received the fourth most awards in the entire state - more than any other Catholic school! The selected artworks will be on display at the OPS TAC building at 32nd and Cuming from Feb. 23rd to March 11th with a cerermony and reception for the artists and their friends and families. The artworks which won Gold Keys (Skutt won 14 Golds!) will compete nationally in New York in May.

- Tayler Hough (12) has been selected as one of the 48 Believers & Achievers for the 2010-11 academic year by the Nebraska School Activities Association. Taylor is one of six featured in the December issue of the NSAA newsletter, will also be on a poster sent to all schools and will be featured at a halftime presentation during the NE High School Basketball Tournament in March. Tayler is the 2nd individual awarded this honor following Katie Keck in 2006-07.

- The Ministry Council collected 4 car loads of supplies for the Youth Emergency Services for their Advent Service Project.

SkyHawk Sports Wall of Honor 2010-2011
- Congratulations to the Skutt Catholic Powerlifting team for the second place finish at the Class B Powerlifting Meet.
- Eric Moseman was named Lifter of the Meet and set a new state record in the Dead Lift at 405 lbs. Eli Moseman also won the 165 lbweight class.
- Congratulations to the Skutt/MountMichael 2010/11 Swim/Dive Team who competed at STATE. A MUST to keep in mind when reviewing results: Since teams are not grouped by size of school as in other sports (Class A,B,C,D, etc.), swimmers and divers compete against every other athlete and team in Nebraska. - The Girls' Swim Team took 9th place (of the top 25) and the Boys' Swim Team took 15th place (of the top 24) overall.

- Todd Leutzinger, sophomore from Skutt (2010 All-American Consideration, 5th State 2011, 6th State 2010).
- Congratulations to the Skutt Catholic High School Dance Team. The team took home the State Championship in the Class B Pom division and received runner up in the Class B Jazz division. This years team is lead by seniors Abbey Podrazo, Haley Mendlik, Bailey Lathrop and Allison Jones.

- Bill and Jessica Wallrapp share in the excitement, as their son Charlie Wallrapp signs to play basketball at Benedictine College, in Atchison, Kansas. Benedictine Coach Todd Eisner also looks on.

- Art students Sam Hendricks, Catie Yuhas, Megan Rupiper, Emma Gilbert, and Lauren Kolkman created a new stained glass window for the art room. The students, along with Monica Baxter and Father Andrew, help place the new window in its new home.

- Congratulations to Sarah Nordstrom (UNO), Ashley Holland (Benedictine), and Kerry Pivovar (UNO). They will be playing college soccer next year. Also pictured is SkyHawk Head Coach, John Carlson.

- Surrounded by his grandparents and parents, James Hajek signs to play basketball at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. James is the first Skutt Catholic male to receive a Division I basketball scholarship.

- Congratulations to the Skutt Catholic/Mount Michael Swim & Dive team on a great season and State performance, with both the girls' and boys' teams placing 17th overall. The Team broke 12 or 24 school records this year.

- Congratulations to the Skutt Catholic Mock Trial team for winning the State Championship this past December! The team now heads to Philadelphia to compete for the National Championship.
- Congratulations go out to SC students Anna Heffron and Sid Rai who were both recently named National Merit Finalists. Anna and Sid were named Semi-Finalists back in the Fall along with Cameron Beauchamp, Scott Johnson, and Kyle Tucker who were named commended students by the National Merit Program.
As Semi-Finalists, Anna and Sid were eligible to advance through the next stage of the application process with the National Merit Scholarship Program. Less than 1% of all PSAT test takers in the country achieved this honor!
- Congratulations go out to the SkyHawk Wrestling program for their 13th consecutive Class B State Wrestling Championship. Coach Hildebrandt, his staff and the wrestlers had an outstanding tournament and made everyone proud. Individual state champions were, Thomas Gilman (112), Andy Hollins (140), Christian Loges (145). Second Place medals went to Zane Sackett (125) and Grant Randall (152). Jacob Hasz (285) finished in 3rd place and Kyle Pokorny (189) finished 4th.
- Congratulations to the Varsity Dance Team for winning State Championships in both Class B Pom and Class B Jazz on Saturday at the 2010 Nebraska State Cheer and Dance Championships in Grand Island!
- Congratulations to the 2010 State Champion Varsity Cheerleaders!! The girls won the Class B Tumbling Cheer Championship and were the State Runner-Up in the Non-Tumbling Cheer Division.
- Congratulations to Paul Troupe (Cross Country) and Ellen Homan (Softball) for being selected by the Omaha Sports Commission as Outstanding Scholar-Athletes for the fall season.

- Congratulations to both the boys and girls cross country teams for qualifying for state! Paul Troupe earned an individual medal by finishing 10th!
- Five Skutt Catholic students were recently named National Merit Academic Scholars. Congratulations to SC students Sid Rai, Anna Heffron, Cameron Beauchamp, Scott Johnson, and Kyle Tucker for this great accomplishment.

Sid and Anna are National Merit Semifinalists which means that they scored in the top 1% of the more than 1.5 million students that took the PSAT test last year. They will now enter competition for finalist standing. Cameron, Scott, and Kyle are National Merit Commended students for scoring in the top 5% of the 1.5 million students.
Skutt Catholic has had 22 students recognized by the National Merit Program in the past four years, which represents one of the highest percentages of students being recognized in a Nebraska school by the National Merit Scholarship Program.

- Congratulations to Erin Borchers who was named to the Academic All-State Team at a brunch sponsored by the Omaha World Herald. Erin was one of 9 students in the state to receive this honor.
- Congratulations on another great activity year. I have included the results of the NSAA Cellular Cup. This award includes all activities sponsored by the NSAA. We finished 1st in combined and the boys division and a close 2nd in the girls division. Congratulations SkyHawks! - Wrestling Coach Brad Hildebrandt has been named the 2009 Coach of the Year by Wrestling USA Magazine. This prestigious national award has been presented to the nation's best in the sport since 1973. In his fifteen years as head coach, Brad has led his team to twelve straight Class B State Championships, as well as, forty nine individual champions. Congratulations Coach!
- Congratulations go out to Skutt Catholic students Erin Borchers (Gr. 12) and Anna Heffron (Gr. 11) who both scored a perfect 36 on the ACT! Last year, less than 3/100 of 1% of high school test takers scored a perfect 36.
- Skutt Catholic High School standout named Gatorade Nebraska Boys Soccer Player of the year!
In its third decade of honoring the nation's best high school athletes, the Gatorade company, in partnership with ESPN RISE, today announced Michael Burke of Skutt Catholic High School as its 2008-09 Gatorade Nebraska Boys Soccer Player of the year. Burke is the first Gatorade Nebraska Boys Soccer Player of the Year to be chosen from Skutt Catholic High School.
- Two Selected for 2009 Shrine Bowl.
Congratulations to senior, Matt Kathol and Coach Matt Turman, for being selected for the 51st annual Nebraska Shrine Bowl football game played at Memorial Stadium on Saturday July 25, 2009. Both player and coach will be a part of the South team as they take on the North squad in the 6:30PM game. Matt Kathol, the son of Jane and Stan Kathol, plans to attend UNO in the fall. - Congratulations to the Dance Team in earning the State Championship in Jazz Division and runner up in Pom for 2009.
- SKYHAWKS MAKE HISTORY!! Congratulations to the Skyhawk Wrestling Team on the 12th consecutive state title. Brad Hildebrandt became the Nebraska coach with the most consecutive state title wins. Awesome job wrestlers!
- Skutt Catholic is the first school in River Cities Conference history to win 4 consecutive RCC Speech Championships.
- William Choate became the first Skutt Catholic student ever to earn 1000 points or more from the National Forensic League. Willam has accomplished this lofty feat as a 4 year member of the SkyHawk Forensics Team. By earning 1000 points, William has now been given the Degree of Outstanding Distinction (the second highest degree possible for a student.)
- Skutt Catholic Seniors Joe Benak and Erin Borchers have been named National Merit Finalists! Skutt Catholic has had 17 students recognized by the National Merit Program in the past three years with six students this current year. Joe and Erin recently advanced to "finalist standing." Less than 1% of our nation's high school students earn this distinction.
