General Info

  • There is an important ITS meeting today after school. All theatre students should attend.

  • Audition information for the spring play may be picked up from Mr. Schnitzler any time this week beginning today after school. The auditions for the "Arabian Nights" will be next Monday after school.

  • Students...a reminder that if you are interested in signing up for a course in Chinese next year, you need to pick up a form in the main office to formally express interest in the course.

  • Drivers Education classes begin Tuesday, March 13. Classes will meet on every Tuesday and Thursday for 4 weeks at 3:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. MUST have 16 students to hold the classes. Sign up in the main office.

  • Friday, February 10 is a Charity Dress Day for Student Advisory Board. Please be generous.

  • Great Service Opportunity - Volunteer at Winter Jam 2012 and help sign-up sponsors for Holt International, which specializes in helping orphaned and abandoned children throughout the world. All volunteers receive a free entry to the Christian concert featuring NewSong and Skillet. The event will be held at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs on Thursday, February 16 at 4:30 p.m. Go to www.holtinternational.org/winterjam for more information.

  • The Skutt Catholic and Gretna Girls Basketball programs have come together to sponsor the 3rd Annual "Think Pink" game on Tuesday, February 14th, here at Skutt Catholic. T-shirts are being sold in conjunction with the event, and all proceeds from these sales will go to the "Susie Q Foundation", in honor of the late Susan Kocsis, a former Skutt Catholic mother who died of breast cancer in 2000. T-shirts will cost $10, and orders will be due Monday at the end of the lunch periods. For ordering details, please see Mrs. Cushing.

  • Any senior interested in serving on senior board should plan to attend a brief informational meeting on Tuesday, February 7, immediately after school in room D114.

... to Zach Beran for receiving a $500.00 Honor Band Scholarship this weekend at the UNO BOCH Honor Music Festival with his audition on trumpet. Zach was 1 of 6 students to receive this scholarship.

... to Emily Pachunka for being 1 of 3 alternates for the same scholarship with her audition on flute.

  • Mr. Homan needs to see Carina Harrison and members of the Green Team in the music room today at this time.

  • The ACT Prep class scheduled for Sunday-Monday-Tuesday has been cancelled due to low enrollment.

  • Any theatre students who want to attend the UNO Theatre Workshop day on February 25th must let Mr. Schnitzler know by the end of the day.

  • Today is the feast day of St. Blaise, and is the traditional day of the blessing of throats. Fr. Jeff will in the Chapel during all lunch periods for anyone who would like to have their throat blessed.

  • TD Ameritrade Park & CenturyLink Center are hiring summer workers. Interviews begin on Feb. 6. Students looking for a summer job can view the information in the guidance office.

  • The Nat'l Aeronautics & Space Administration is offering a summer camp for female junior students who have an interest in engineering, research and mathematics at the NASA center. More information is in the guidance office.

  • The Douglas County Fair is launching a competition for the re-design of the Fair logo. All students are welcome to enter the event to create a new logo. The winning designer will receive a $100 US Savings Bond.

  • All students taking dual enrollment classes at UNO are invited to the Maverick Hockey game on Feb. 25. Tickets are free, parking is free, and snacks at the tailgate party before the game are free. Information on both of these items are in the guidance office.

  • The Kansas City Art Institute is hosting a 3-week summer camp for studends interested in the Art field.

  • The Exploring program provides a career-education experience to help young people choose a future career path. Local businesses use their experts to help students learn about different careers. Some of the new Exploring opportunities are in the Health Science field at NE Methodist College, Communication field at the Omaha World Herald, the Human Services field at Fraser Stryker Law Office, the Engineering field and many others. Registration is required, so pick up more information in the guidance office.
